History

volunteers

In 1983, a severe drought and famine broke out in Ghana. It lasted until 1985. Foreign aid (food) was given to the Catholic Church all over the country to ration to the people. The priests themselves were responsible for rationing the food to the people. Since then, the idea that “The Catholic priest can supply all our needs” is in the minds of many people. They now go to the Catholic priests whenever they need anything.

This belief has helped lead to numerous boys and girls flocking to Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom and his brother Fr. Michael Kofi Akowuah for financial assistance to attend school. The priest’s friend (Father Joseph’s former Altar server) Mr Daniel Adu Amankwaa, now a government hospital administrator, suggested the idea of forming a charitable organization to assist needy youth. He himself was once a needy boy who benefitted from the assistance of the priests in order to continue attending school. This idea by Mr Amankwaa brought about the birth of the Saint Anthony Charity Education Foundation.

Vision

The focus of the St. Anthony Charity Education Foundation is to solicit funds
from charitable individuals and organizations in order to provide educational services to underprivileged youth and thereby bring back hope to the hopeless.

Mission

St. Anthony Charity Education Foundation is to provide for the education of needy youth in the hopes of empowering them to become upstanding members of society. This opportunity for education will also give hope to the hopeless, while the education itself will help provide opportunities for jobs, good health care, family, etc. This will in turn make them feel important in life once again.
